represents 4 since there is a 1 in the 4's place and 0Õs in the 1's

since there is a 1 in the 4's place and 0's in the 1's place and the 2's
place."
** typo #2 ** on page 6 it says "33 therefore is 3x16 + 3 or 49" but
this should be "33 therefore is 3x16 + 3 or 51."
** typo #3 ** on
the 33 questions of the handout sheet, question #28 has the A and the D
backwards. It says "28.MP3 players are a___ while tape players are d___
" but it should be "28.MP3 players are d___ while tape players are
a___."

- when using iPhoto, run into problems with the photos resorting
themselves from the order I put them in when burning a disk ... how do I
solve this ... christina
===>
by creating an album and moving the pictures directly into the album, you will not
have this problem anymore ... the pictures will indeed still be in the
library but will be more easily accessed thru the chosen album in whatever
sort order you want
- How do I move parents' email addresses from a SS to my email address
book in order to create bulk mailouts ... christina
===>
generally, it is best to save the addresses in a text file and
then try to import them ... we need to look at this together, christina
- on e-mail I don't understand what an IMAP is on my MAC account ...
christina
===> IMAP stand for Internet Message Access Protocol. It is the
method that your email client uses to retrieve your email from your
email account. Applications such as Apple's Mail often uses this method.
- sometimes the computer does not recognize an inserted CD. Why not?
do you have to use utilities to get it out ... christina
===> In
most cases if a CD is not recognized by the computer, the CD will not
eject. One way that works on most Macs is to restart the computer. While
the computer starts up click and hold down the mouse ... you may also find
a tiny button under the CD slot that ejects the CD
- Sometimes, both here at school but especially at home on a fairly
new PC my screen will freeze and the only way I've found to get the
computer functioning again is to cut off power and restart it. How bad
is this for the computer? What is happening...elaine
===> Unplugging a
computer while it's on is bad for the computer. If your PC freezes first
try pressing and holding CTRL+ALT+DEL (DEL is to the left of the END
key) When you release these keys, a window called "task manager" should
appear. Within this window select the program that says "not responding"
and click end task. This should solve the problem. On a Mac, the keys to
hold down are: APPLE+OPTION+ESC, then select the program that is not
responding and click "Force Quit" .... HOWEVER .. if the trick above
does not work,
- How do I flip an Appleworks document...kay
===>When
you choose Save As in Appleworks, there is a menu where you can choose
the file format to save it in. Choosing a word format will make it
compatible on more computers.
Also ... under the DOCUMENT menu when painting, you will see the # of pixels from left to
right and up to down .. if you change the # of pixels you can get paper that
is horizontal instead of vertical ... i.e. change from 600 x 800 to be 800 x 600 and the
canvas size will change ... this is what some of us did when painting pictures
for the Boston Home contest
- if a person sends and e-mail in very small print, can you make it
larger or only on Web sites ... kathryn
===>the tricks Lynne showed you apply to Web browsers
only ... for e-mail, the best trick is to SELECT ALL ... then COPY ... then open
up a word processor and PASTE ... now you can use the features of the
WORD PROCESSOR to change the FONT size
- can you review the steps for moving a picture from the Internet to a
document ... ... kathryn
===>
with a Mac, you hold down CONTROL and click on the Web graphic and you
will see one choice that says COPY ... then you go to your document and
paste ... alternatively, you can sometimes drag a drop from the Web directly into
an open document ... a third way involves SAVING the file to your computer via "DOWNLOAD" and then
importing or inserting the graphic
- is there a chart of symbols such as OPTION 4 which yields the CENTS
sign ... dana

- Sally Gorman on Thursday, August
4, 2005 at 8:22 PM -0500 wrote: steve, the emails arrived and the
pictures are most impressive. the crew was quite pleased
- Janice Kushner writes "All the drawings had wonderful texture. they
all demonstrated a connection to the state of Texas. I had trouble
awarding each one first prize. They all deserve complements on their
technique and decisions of subjects."
- Dianne Connor writes "Hello Steve and the crew from Texas, The
pictures are now hung up and I am doing my best to try to judge them.
It's so hard to try to judge something that in no way you could do
yourself. All the people are to be commended for their hard work in
just a few days. If I have time later -- today happens to be very busy
day I will come back and try to have more comments. But this is a
start, and I have absolutely no idea where Colleen Powers might be. She
was sitting outside early this morning but since then I have not seen
her. She may have forgotten -- her memory is coming and going -- sort
of like mine -- I tend to go "brain-dead" for periods of time. I guess
it is the disease. My mother is concerned. She's 88 and says she
remembers everything. Who are we to argue with her. We can't -- so I
don't try anymore. I'm glad her memory is still good. Right now it is
getting noisy in here so I had better close out for now. I do not want
to put them in any particular order. Colleen just arrived and I'll let
her judge them for herself and send a message on to you and then you can
decide what you think. Many thanks to Helen Hall for having printed
them out with the descriptions above. It's nice to today and I'd like
to get out there. Talk more later if you're available. Dianne
- Colleen Powers writes "Dear Steve, these are my picks for the
summercore in Houston -- it must be rather hot down there, but it's been
so rainy around here that I can handle your red-hot pictures! the
drawings from Houston were much different from our first group -- maybe
more landlocked because of the state's vast size they were whimsical and
fun to look at. here are my judgments (Lordy, I sound like St. Peter!)
And I hope that they are taken lightheartedly!"
Honorable Mention #1
Harlan and Larry the cactus with a hat
was almost enough, but throwing an Armadillo into the mix was almost
more than I could take of Texas hospitality!
Harlan and Larry
Honorable Mention #2
I actually really like the simplicity of
Steve & Dennis. When I first looked at them it really caught my eye and
I had to read what they had written. I must say the missile bears a
slight resemblance to a pencil! But I like it.
Steve and Dennis
Honorable Mention #3
I also very much like remember the Alamo by
Dana and Kay. And I learned something -- that the Texas flower is the
Bluebonnet. The flag over in the corner is nice.
Dana and Kay
Honorable Mention #4
Regarding the picture by Dorian and Penny,
I can certainly recognize the map of Texas without having Texas spelled
out on the side. Having the little things highlighted in the map is
also quite clever.
Dorian and
Penny
Third Place goes to ...
Cathy and Angie I liked the feeling of
openness and height of the derrick, as well as the Longhorn off to the
side -- we never get a glimse of anything like it except for on TV .
Cathy and Angie
Second Place goes to ...
The one by Troy and Marysia ... I
like the selection of colors with the dark blue sky, bright yellow sun,
the mountains, in the sand and the cactus. Dianne
Troy and Marysia ... the lonesome snake and green cacti are well
backed by the towering brownish mountains -- nice composition ! Colleen
Troy and Marysia
First Place goes to ...
I also very much like the simplicity of Gloria and Molly's Tex-Mex cafˇ
picture. I wouldn't mind sitting there and having a drink -- but the
picture window should be bigger. Dianne
Gloria and Molly's Tex-Mex
Cafe I can just imagine the sounds of my foot-falls in that clean
cafeÕs linoleum floor (I haven't the seen a linoleum floor in ages, so
maybe it prohibition a sign of fifties mentality! I would like to
sample the Margarita on the table! Colleen
Gloria and Molly
