Google Labs ­ New features from Google in beta stages.

 

1st  Piece

 

Use Froogle to comparison shop on the web. Type in the item in the search bar and click on the Froogle link.

 

Google News is an online newspaper. Gives main news stories and lists other news organizations that contain the same story. One click displays all sites around the world that are reporting the same news event. Good comparison on focus and headlines between sources. Also allows to search topics in the news. Different from searching Google Web. Use Newsearch Link to specify only news sources and current events.

 

Google will find PowerPoint Presentations for you. From the main page of Google click on the Link Advanced Search. From here you can narrow your search. You can specify which file format to search for. Click on the drop down menu and choose Microsoft Powerpoint under file type. Then type in the keyword youıre searching for. Notice that next to the search results is the extenseion *ppt. Double clicking on the link can automatically download the file to the desktop. File size is proportionate to the amount of pictures or media it has. The powerpoint presentation is fully editable because itıs downloaded on the desktop. Might lead to issue of cheating. Different ranges of presentations ranging from students to teachers.

Once a month they post a list of cool sites from all around the web. On the left side of the page is an acrhive of all subjects from astronomy-physics. By clicking on the subject link it will take you to good websites that have been found already.

A site designed by and for teachers. Basically teacher found and approved web resources. Good listings on a host of topics. Can join mailing list by giving email address and get sent 5 cool websites for this week. Links to teacher resources as well. Click on content matrix at the top left side of the screen. Displays the subject and the grade level for the resources. Click on a subject link and it displays a list of links of websites and content that are grade level appropriate.

Can search by content area, subject area, and grade level. Teacher found resources that are useful for the classroom. Click on the content area. On the left side it lists the subjects and type of resources from tutorials-projects. Star ratings on the right side of links rate that link.
