Friday May 7th, 2010: We at The Children's Storefront in Harlem are desperately seeking someone who knows about the NBX 100 Phone System by 3Com.

Description of crisis? Phone system works fine WITHIN Storefront calling from office to office or room to room ... we receive calls from the outside fine with no problems ... however, we cannot make outgoing calls either local or long distance ... If you have any insights, suggestions or strategies, let me know... yes, we have tested all 12 Verizon lines so we are fairly positive it is NOT a Verizon problem or issue. We have a phone system called NBX 100 made by 3Com purchased in 2000 or 2001 ... 12 POTS lines coming in ... several LINE CARDS ... click here for our HUNT group Yes we have re-booted the system -- no success ... Yes, we have tested all 12 lines separately -- all test fine, hence no Verizon issue ... Someone said maybe one of the LINE CARDS is bad ... if this is true, how do we test? Update Monday May 17th, 2010 and my song

We fortuitously came across a wonderfully generous company called Sanders Software from Lawrence Kansas who shipped us a new NBX-100 box on Monday 5/10. It arrived on Tuesday 5/11 and had the complete Storefront configuration since Tim and Kaelene from Sanders Software had managed to backup the configuration. Once we set it all up and tested, it exhibited the EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS above. At this point, Tim suggested we contact Verizon who came out on Wednesday 5/12 and explained that we had to dial 9 then comma then 9 then 1 to make a long distance call. So as it turned out, there was NOTHING wrong with our NBX-100 box and for all of those days of frustration, we could have indeed dialed out had we been smart enough to dial 9,9,1 and then the number. Verizon could NOT explain why they had changed the the Centrex plan to add the 9 the previously week. We then had Tim reconfigure our system so that it would not need the extra 9. By Thursday 5/13 everything was back to normal and I had time to write the lyrics for this song. Steve ;-)
