The Climate of Switzerland

This is Urs from Switzerland

There Are Three Areas of Land

  1. Northern Mountains(Jura)

  2. Middle plains

  3. Southern Mountains(Alps)

All of these have different climates

The climate in Switzerland is quite similar to Massachusetts. The highest temperatures we get in summer are around 90 to 95. In winter the coldest would be around 10. By the way in Switzerland (and elsewhere in Europe) we give temperatures in celsius not Fahrenheit. So the high would be around 35 and the lows around -10.

In summer it's warm in the Alps. So a lot of people go hiking there. But on the highest peaks there is snow all year around. There are a few places that offer summer skiing e.g. Laax or Zermatt.

In the plains which actually are more hilly than flat we get snow in winter, but not very much. We hardly ever get more than a foot and usually it melts within a few days.
