I clicked on "whale sharks" and -- lord love a duck! -- AV came back with 1,882 images.   2. Apple Corporation has a web site with useful utilities for Macs and an associated ftp site (ftp stands for file transfer protocol) .... Paul from PaulBryan Inc in Concord comments that this particular Apple search engine contains thousands of Apple software and hardware titles, with full product descriptions, system requirements, product part #s, vendor information and website/email links etc. Great place to go when looking for something exotic, different, or outside of normal distribution channels.
  3. AP Subjects from the College Board, includes Art, Biology, Calculus AB/BC, Chemistry, English, French, Latin, Music Theory, Physics, Spanish, Statistics, US History and more
  4. AsianDiver OnLine Magazine...which carries a stirring story about an encounter with a whale shark whose mouth was almost six feet across and whose tail swept an arc of 15 feet.

C++ Distance Learning Center is a web site that advertises its services for a topic that its c++ distance learning courses; for more info, you can e-mail director@studio-ide.com and request info ... we are hoping to teach c++ here at Nobles in 98-99 ... or visit the distance learning home page. A number of Java-based simulations in Physics have been created by Mike Lee from Davidson College.
  12. Cornell University's CU-SeeMe Page will prove very useful to Modern Language teachers at Nobles seeking to get involved with video-conferencing; already Barbara Sawhill (Spanish teacher) has set up our new Language Lab with the use of CU-SeeMe! Helpful were great tutorial lessons we found and a wonderful reference page of current CU See Me sites from UTexas! On November 15th, 1997, we even got an e-mail from the author,

    In your web page, you have a link to my reflector scanner for CU-SeeMe. I just wanted to let you know that you can do much more by linking to this recommended location and let whoever browses it select the options they want. The command you have linked to just spits out a text formatted list, suitable for printing. The one I recommend is the web format which allows much more versatility. The browser can sort it any way they wish as well as print it out in formats that can be directly imported into CU-SeeMe. You can also see who's on a few reflectors by adding "?command=scan". Just wanted to tell you about that...and thanks for the link :)

  29. On Line Help in Mathematics and English is now available on The WebA new educational site... It covers basic skills in English and Mathematics. Junior, Middle or High School students may submit their problems and receive a solution within 48 hours ( hopefully less time than this). PeopleLink is designed for online consumers who want a real-time connection to their colleagues and friends - the people with whom they regularly communicate through email. PeopleLink notifies you when people you want to connect with are online anywhere on the Internet. PeopleLink is free to download and use and is available for Windows 95/NT, Windows 3.1, Power PC and Macintosh 6800. PeopleLink is a very small download and should take less than 5 minutes with a 28.8 modem.

VIDEO CONFERENCING .. with Science Dept possibly Feb 99 ... select service-learning ... this will give info. on project ... select degree completion. then select respiration/fermentation for the actual experiment we will be sharing ... That's great! (might need to work on the time difference) my biology lab meets on Tuesdays from 2-6pm. .... what is the age/grade?? i'm using a Color QuickCam for transmission with CU SeeMe. i also like using iVisit, since it can have unlimited numbers of schools at the same time. this project is using desktop videoconferencing rather than ISDN (we have PicTel set ups).   42. Virus Information from CIAC was given to us by Andrew Cencini '97 in the context of the numerous notes about viruses that get sent in on NoblesNet. We have learned to avoid sending the panic notes to everyone that almost always make the situations worse. To quote Andrew ... Don't want to clutter everyone's mailbox, but if you want a complete list of internet hoaxes, the CIAC has a list of internet hoaxes. They encourage people to read thoroughly their information there.
  43. The Voyages of the Picton Castle...serves as a great reality base for geography courses, etc. The PC is on a 500-day, 35,000-mile circumnavigation visiting some 50 ports-of-call in 25 countries with a crew of 20 men and 20 women. Visit their "Image Gallery" page -- educators are given ready access and use to over 1,000 images.
